okay so I know that the reason there’s a “stark tower” in the MCU is because in 2012 no one knew that “guy with big new york tower with his name on it” was going to have different connotations in fewer than ten years, but I choose to believe that it’s because donald trump just straight up doesn’t exist in the MCU

They have superheroes and no Trump? They must be living in the Good Place

pros of living in the MCU:

  • superheroes
  • no Trump
  • Wakanda exists
  • a rich white billionaire invented clean, renewable energy and shared the tech with everyone
  • Thor is real and currently single

cons of living in the MCU:

  • constant threat of alien invasion
  • ???

things tumblr needs to add:

  • lockable posts (so you can make a post unrebloggable)
  • when deleting a post, it deletes everywhere else.
  • proper block button, if twitter can do it, so can you.
  • proper reporting guidelines

also searching multiple tags at once would be wonderful

And the ability to track url tags with hyphens yes good

I reblogged this five years ago and literally, none of these things have happened.

Sending asks from a secondary account

date when it was made next to the post/reblog

Being able to switch a side blog to make it your main

Being able to comment with a side blog

Ask with a side blog

Being able to use italics/bold in DMs and asks

i wish there was a button you could press that when you accidentally post something to your main Blog instead of your side blog it puts the post on your Side blog instead, so you don’t have to delete the post and re do it

Make mobile not complete shit in general?? Not all of us have working computers.

hell, for that matter make the DESKTOP version not complete shit in general

@pillowfort-io is working to make a blog site with the exact features mentioned by the OP. They have a Kickstarter with a bit more than two weeks left to go.

Hey pillowfort. I was wondering if you have a response to some people’s concerns regarding the part of the TOS that gives pillowfort license to modify, redistribute, etc, the content that users upload. My impression of that part of the TOS is that it allows the site to do what it does, which is to upload images and videos to the pillowfort domain, adjust the size/compress if necessary, and similar functions. I was also wondering how you guys will handle art posted without artist’s consent/theft.

pillowfort-io:

You are right, that clause of the ToS is only there to allow us to display and distribute your content throughout our site. We certainly don’t intend to commodify user content to use in advertising, etc. or ever sell it to third parties. We also plan to revise our ToS in the near future to clear up certain areas like this one that often cause misunderstandings.

As for art theft, we certainly want artists to be able to report art to us that was posted without their permission. It can be a little tricky because we know there will be people, eventually, who may try to abuse this to get the works of an artist that they simply don’t like removed even if they were posted by the artist themselves, by posing as the artist and saying “This user is an imposter of me, the real artist, please delete their content/blog.” So if you are an artist who wants your reposted art removed from our site, you’ll have to provide us with some sort of proof that you are the actual artist in question whose works are being posted without permission. However this could be as simple as, if you have an online portfolio with your contact email displayed publicly, emailing us from that email address on your portfolio so we can verify you are the artist. It might seem a bit annoying, but I’m sure you can understand why we can’t just take the word of anyone who wants us to delete a user’s content from our site.

What happens when you let computers optimize foorplans (I love this SO MUCH)

otherpeoplescreativity:

I eagerly await our new AI masters’ world of ultraoptimized, uncannily organic, evolving foorplans. Joel Simon:

Evolving Floor Plans is an experimental research project
exploring speculative, optimized floor plan layouts. The rooms and
expected flow of people are given to a genetic algorithm which attempts
to optimize the layout to minimize walking time, the use of hallways,
etc. The creative goal is to approach floor plan design solely from the
perspective of optimization and without regard for convention,
constructability, etc. The research goal is to see how a combination of
explicit, implicit and emergent methods allow floor plans of high
complexity to evolve. The floorplan is ‘grown’ from its genetic encoding
using indirect methods such as graph contraction and emergent ones such
as growing hallways using an ant-colony inspired algorithm.

Adds Simon: “I have very mixed feelings about this project.”

In the link are also some variants with optimization for windows; now I want to go to that school. I also want to feed this algorithm the floorplans for some other buildings, such as a shopping mall (can you optimize for impulse purchase? for a natural wander rate that inclines the shopper to slow down and take their time? Can you get rid of those trouble-mongering perfume and moisturizer kiosks?) or a multifamily home (could my entire gaming group live at the same address without growing to hate each other? people with different hours of activity, different sensitivities to sound and stimulation, different accessibility needs?).

But most importantly: Science!

Sorry if this has been addressed already, but I haven’t seen it yet. When people reblog will they be able to remove the captions like they can on tumblr? In the art community I see a lot of artists, that want that caption to say on, constantly fighting to get people to stop deleting what they had to say. Often those captions share links that help to support the artists and their work, so it seems awful that people can simply remove them. I’m sure this can create issues for other communities too.

pillowfort-io:

No, on Pillowfort you cannot edit or remove any of the content of a post you are reblogging.
